DLMDD Creative Director composes music for landmark Mercury flyby
Mystery, wonder, the unknown - soundtracking space
DLMDD Creative Director Anil Sebastian partnered with their brother Ingmar Kamalagharan to create the soundtrack for our first view of Mercury through the lens of the BepiColombo spacecraft, during its first flyby of the planet on Oct 1, 2021.
Launched in 2018, the joint mission by the European Space Agency and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency has seen BepiColombo fly once past Earth and twice past Venus on its journey to pock-marked rocky planet Mercury, on a massive mission to learn more about the mysterious planet.
Anil and Ingmar set out to create music that embodies a sense of mystery, wonder, the unknown, discovery, anticipation, and arrival – creating the feeling of a new journey with exciting, fresh possibilities.
BepiColombo will perform six more flybys over the next 4 years before entering into orbit around Mercury.
DLMDD will be continuing to work with ESA to help create the music for each of the six flybys. Learn more about the BepiColombo mission here.
