CUPRA brand ambassador and world-renowned swimmer Adam Peaty, reflects on how he harnesses the power of music to tune into his mental health.
Challenge
125 lives are lost every week to suicide. Suicide is the leading cause of death of men under 45 in the UK. CALM are working to help change that through their life-saving services, provoking national conversation, and bringing people together to reject living miserably. They use music, comedy, sport and anything in between to challenge stereotypes, raise awareness, and help people find the strength to seek help.
Approach
The impact and importance of music on your emotional state is an almost universal human truth. Whether like 40% of the population you use music to manage your stress while driving home after a tough day. Or use it to lift you when you feel lonely. Or are down front at a festival with all your mates having the time of your life; CALM and CUPRA want to harness this power and magic of music, to help people tune into their mental wellbeing and not suffer in silence.
“ I have a lot to thank music for. Those early morning training sessions and regular travels abroad for competitions can often lead to feelings of loneliness – music allows me to express and process these emotions in a healthy way. ”
